IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s soccer awards for the week ending Sunday, August 23.
Offensive Player of the Week
Michael Raggett, Jr., F, Charlotte
Raggett had a breakout season-opener, scoring two goals in the 3-0 win over No. 23 West Virginia. He bookended the scoring for the 49ers, scoring the first goal in the 25
th minute, before adding a second in the 67
th minute.
Defensive Player of the Week
Samuel Manufor, So., D, Charlotte
Manufor was instrumental in the win over No. 23 West Virginia, playing 90 minutes on the back line and allowing just three shots on goal against the Mountaineers.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Carlito Saylon, Jr., GK, Tulsa
Saylon had an impressive weekend in goal. In the 1-0 win over UIC, the junior goalkeeper finished with eight saves. He followed up with an additional save in the draw against UC Riverside.
Freshman of the Week
Eirikur Beck, D, Charlotte
Beck assisted on first goal of the game for the 49ers and helped anchor the backline that allowed three shots on goal in the win over No. 23 West Virginia.
Honorable Mention
Lucas Nordin, Sr., F, UAB
Nordin hit the game-tying goal in the 1-1 draw against Lipscomb.
Alex Svetanoff, Sr., GK, Charlotte
Svetanoff earned a clean sheet while finishing with three saves in the 3-0 win over No. 23 West Virginia.
Diego Real, 5th, F, Missouri State
Real had scored two goals and added an assists to help the Bears earn opening weekend wins over Quinnipiac and Penn State.
Tyler Richardson, Sr., M/D, South Florida
Richardson finished with a pair of assists in games against Winthrop and West Florida.
Luc Achermann-Stanfield, Sr., M, Tulsa
Achermann-Stanfield scored a penalty kick in the 1-1 tie against UC Riverside.
