IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s soccer awards for the week ending Sunday, August 30.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Santi Possu, Gr., F, FIU
In the 76^th minute, Possu hit the game-winning goal to send the Panthers past No. 20 NC State, 2-1.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Alfonso Gilleard-Soriano, Jr., D, FIU
Gilleard-Soriano was stout on defensive, helping guide the Panthers to allowing just three shots on goal against No. 20 NC State.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week
Fernando Alves Schmelz, Jr., GK, Missouri State
Alves Schmelz orchestrated the defense into allowing justo one shot on goal in the win over Chicago State to earn a clean sheet.
 
Freshman of the Week
Dani González , Fr., M, Missouri State
Gonzalez scored his first career goal in the 5-0 victory over Chicago State.
 
Honorable Mention
Natsuki Ogata, Sr., F, Charlotte
Ogata scored a goal in the draw against No. 7 Vermont and assisted in the draw against Wofford.
 
Xavi Csato, Sr., M, Florida Atlantic
Csato scored a goal and assisted on the game-tying goal in the 3-3 draw against No. 20 NC State.
