IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly football honors from Week 2 of the 2026 season.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Caden Veltkamp • Gr. • QB • Florida Atlantic
Veltkamp was nearly perfect in the American Conference opener against Navy, completing 27-of-32 (84.4 percent) pass attempts for 386 yards and 5 touchdowns in the 38-30 win. He completed passes to seven different receivers on the night.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ike Esonwune • R-Jr. • LB • UAB
Esonwune had an impressive performance in the 26-20 comeback win over ULM, recording 10 tackles, and interception and a pass breakup. His interception came with 5:50 remaining in the game to halt a ULM drive that had entered plus territory, setting up the game-winning drive for the Blazers.
 
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jonah Delange • Sr. • K • UAB
Delange was a perfect 4-for-4 on field goals and 2-for-2 on PATs, scoring 14 points in UAB’s 26-20 win over ULM.  Three of his four field goals were over 40 yards, including a game-long 45 yards.  His 42 yard field goal extended the UAB lead to six with 1:10 remaining in the game.
 
HONORABLE MENTION
Jahiem White • Sr. • RB • UNT
Rushed for 124 yards and one touchdown on 12 carries in a 44-6 win over UNLV.
 
Michael Van Buren Jr. • Jr. • QB • South Florida
Scored four touchdowns (two passing, two rushing), including the game-winning 38-yard touchdown pass with 19 second remaining in the 28-24 win over Army.
 
Brandon Tucker Jr. • Jr. • LB • UTSA
Recorded 13 tackles in the 31-26 win over Texas State – the most tackles by a Roadrunner since 2021.
 
Jaylin Lucas • R-Sr. • RB • Tulane
Ran for a Yulman Stadium record 214 yards and one touchdown on just 11 carries the 28-24 win over South Alabama.
 
Trequan Jones • Sr. • RB • Tulsa
Rushed for a game-high 125 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries in the 23-17 win over Sam Houston.
