IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the second weekly cross country honors of the 2026 season.

Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week
Andruw Villa, Jr., UTSA
Villa led the Roadrunners to a fourth place team finish in the men’s 8K at the UIW Invitational on Sept. 12 in Windcrest. Villa logged an individual time of 25:08.7 with an average mile split of 5:03.5 to place second individually on the Windcrest Golf Club course, his second straight runner-up performance to begin his UTSA career after transferring from Abilene Christian.

Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week
Meryeme Mai, Jr., UTSA
Mai captured the individual title in the women’s 5K at the UIW Invitational on Sept. 12 in Mai’s Division I meet debut at UTSA after transferring from Garden City Community College. Mai powered the Roadrunners to a fourth place showing in the team standings with a winning time of 17:11.7 that featured an average mile split of 5:32.1 on the Windcrest Golf Club course.
