Jason Nelson joined the American Conference staff in February 2022 as Director of Sport Administration and Championships. 

Nelson came to the conference after serving as Director of Moody Coliseum/Director of Event Operations at Southern Methodist University since 2013. He is the American’s primary liaison for men’s and women’s cross country, women’s volleyball, men’s golf and softball.

At SMU, Nelson oversaw all planning, organization and execution of all public and private events at Moody Coliseum and managed the facility’s operating budget. He was the primary operational liaison with national television crews and coordinated and supervised all gameday staff, including ticket-takers, concessions workers and ushers.

Nelson holds a bachelor’s degree in business and public administration from the University of North Dakota.
