Bobby Weygand, who has been a member of the conference staff since 2005, was promoted to his current position of associate commissioner for sport administration and championships in July of 2020.
Weygand serves as the American’s primary Olympic sport administrator, overseeing management and operations of the conference’s 19 Olympic sport programs.
Weygand provides on-site management for select conference championships, executes regular-season scheduling and is responsible for overseeing regular season policies and procedures. He is the lead office liaison for communication with member schools’ administration, coaching staffs and game officials.
Weygand also serves as the conference liaison with the members’ sports medicine society and has served as the championship manager for the American Women’s Basketball Championship.
Weygand previously served as assistant commissioner for sport administration and championships from 2014-20 and as director of sport administration from 2008-14. Prior to being promoted to the director position, Weygand served as assistant director of sport administration from 2005-08.
Weygand is a 2002 graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a degree in sports medicine. He earned a master’s degree in education from Springfield College in 2004.
