Tom Fenstermaker joined the American Conference staff as director of communications in August of 2019.
Before coming to the American, Fenstermaker had been the assistant athletic director for communications at High Point since 2017.
Fenstermaker joined the Panthers after spending five-and-a-half years at the University of Virginia where he served as an assistant athletics media relations director, working with the cross country, rowing, softball, swimming and diving, track and field and volleyball programs.
He was the primary media contact for the 2012 NCAA champion rowing team and facilitated the media coverage for eight individual NCAA championships as well as five Olympians who captured a total of three gold medals and one bronze.
Fenstermaker also spent three years at UMBC where he worked with the volleyball, swimming and diving, cross country/track and field and baseball programs and assisted with men's lacrosse and men's basketball. He also oversaw the video production department at UMBC and was the head statistician for men's and women's basketball and women's lacrosse.
A native of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Fenstermaker graduated from Towson University with a bachelor's degree in sport management in 2008.
