NCAA Cross Country Regionals set for Friday



PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The NCAA Division I Cross Country regionals will take place on Friday, Nov. 11, to determine the 31 teams that will compete at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. Every American Athletic Conference school will be racing in one of the nine regionals across the country.
 
Three-time American men’s champion No. 23 Tulsa and the Tulsa women will race in the Midwest Regional at the Ashton Cross Country Course in Iowa City, Iowa. The women’s 6K will begin at Noon ET with the men’s 10K starting at 1 p.m. ET.
 
The 2016 American women’s champion SMU, ranked 29th in the nation, will compete in the South Central Region along with Houston and Tulane. The race will be run at Agri Park in Fayetteville, Ark., hosted by the University of Arkansas. The women’s 6K will begin at Noon ET and the men’s 10K is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. ET.
 
USF, Memphis and UCF’s women will compete in the South Regional at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Fla. The women’s 6K race will begin at 8:30 a.m. ET, with the men’s race beginning at 9:30 a.m. ET.
 
There are four other regionals that will feature one school from The American. UConn will compete at the Northeast Regional at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y., with the 6K women’s race starting at 11 a.m. ET and the 10K men’s race at 12 p.m. ET. Temple will race in the Mid-Atlantic Regional in University Park, Pa., at the Blue and White Golf Course with the women’s 6K beginning at 12 p.m. ET and the men’s 10K at 1 p.m. ET.
 
East Carolina is running in the Southeast Regional at Panorama Farms in Charlottesville, Va., with the women’s 6K race starting at 11 a.m. ET and the men’s 10K beginning at Noon ET. Cincinnati takes part in the Great Lakes Regional at the Zimmer Championship Course in Madison, Wisc. The women’s 6K race starts at 1 p.m. ET with the men’s 10K race starting at 2 p.m. ET.
 
At each regional, the top two teams will automatically qualify for the national meet with the NCAA then selecting 13 at-large teams to make a 31-team field. The top four individuals in the top-25 of each race that are not on an automatic qualifying team, will qualify as individual runners for the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Ind.
