Tulsa’s Humphrey, Wichita State’s Kipruto Named American Cross Country Runners of the Year

IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the winners of the league’s 2025 Runner of the Year awards for cross country, as voted on by the conference’s cross country head coaches.

 

American Men’s Runner of the Year

Elkana Kipruto, So., Wichita State

Kipruto earns Wichita State’s first Runner of the Year honor following a breakout sophomore season.  The sophomore took home the individual title at the American Cross Country Championship before finishing 7th overall at the NCAA Midwest Regional.  Kipruto capped the year by earning All-American status at the NCAA Championships with a 24th overall finish.

 

American Women’s Runner of the Year

Evyn Humphrey, So., Tulsa

Humphrey becomes the second Golden Hurricane to be named Runner of the Year (Chloe Hershenow, 2022). The sophomore won the individual title at the American Cross Country Championships and finished in 8th place at the NCAA Midwest Regional, qualifying her for the NCAA Championships.
