PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Six players from the American Athletic Conference will be competing at the 2018 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, April 11-14. Cincinnati teammates Gary Clark and Kyle Washington, Houston guard Rob Gray, Wichita State forward Shaquille Morris, UCF swingman A.J. Davis and Temple forward Obi Enechionyia were all invited to the event.
The six are among 64 seniors in the nation taking part in the invitation-only, four-day, 12-game tournament in front of representatives from every NBA team as well as more than 30 scouts from teams from Europe and Asia.
Clark will compete on the Mike Duman Auto Sales team while Washington will play on the Cherry Bekaert squad. Gray will compete for Team Roger Brown’s Restaurant, and Davis was placed on the Norfolk Sports Club. Morris is on the Portsmouth Partnership, and Enechionyia on the K&D Rounds Landscaping squad.
All teams feature an NBA assistant coach as part of the coaching group.
Last year, Houston guard Damyean Dotson was honored as the event’s Most Valuable Player after averaging 14.7 points per game on 55.9 percent shooting with 6.0 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game on his way to becoming a second round NBA Draft pick of the New York Knicks.
The tournament will be held at the Churchland High School Sports Complex beginning on Wednesday. Games will be carried via NetCast Sports. In addition to the games, NetCast Sports will be live streaming the combine testing of the players on the Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
