With wins on Sunday, Memphis and USF both clinched byes for the American Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Championship. In addition, Cincinnati and UCF both clinched home matches in the first round of the tournament.
Memphis 2, SMU 1
Memphis stayed unbeaten in conference play, earning a 2-1 win over SMU. The Tigers improved to 15-1-1 on the season and 7-0-1 in American play. The Mustangs remain in a tie for fifth in the conference standings on nine points at 3-5-0 (10-6-1 overall).
After an own goal by the SMU defense opened the scoring in the 16th minute, Jewel Boland came right back for the Mustangs and tied the game just over a minute later. Saorla Miller provided the game-winner in the 41st minute off an assist from Mya Jones.
USF 3, ECU 1
USF stayed pace with Memphis and trails by a single point in the conference standings after defeating ECU, 3-1. USF is now 12-3-0 overall and 7-1-0 in conference play. ECU fell to 5-10-2 overall and 2-5-1 in league action.
Andrea Hauksdottir opened the scoring in the 21st minute off a feed from Aubrey Megrath. Cashlin Copley tied the match in the 52nd minute, but the Bulls regained the lead five minutes later on a tally by Fanny Pelletier-Laroche. Megrath picked up her second assist of the day on an insurance goal by Evelyne Viens in the 62nd minute.
Cincinnati 1, UCF 0
Cincinnati clinched a first-round home match in the conference championship with a 1-0 win over UCF. The Bearcats took over third spot in the league standings on 15 points with a record of 5-3-0 (7-8-2 overall). The Knights are in fourth with 14 points at 4-2-2 (9-3-4 overall).
Ashley Barron's first career goal in the 49th minute was all the Bearcats needed as Madison Less secured her seventh shutout on the season. Bri Costigan provided her fourth assist of the season on the game-winning goal.
Houston 2, Tulsa 0
Houston moved up to a tie for fifth place in The American standings with a 2-0 win over Tulsa. Houston is tied with SMU on nine points at 3-5-0 (6-12-0 overall), while Tulsa fell to 8-10-0 on the season (2-6-0 in AAC play).
Desiree Bowen opened the scoring in the 18th minute and Jazmin Grant doubled the lead in the 49th minute. Samantha Cude made nine saves in the shutout for the Cougars.
Temple 4, Delaware State 0
Temple improved to 5-9-4 on the season with a 4-0 win over Delaware State.
Madison Bee and Hailey Gutowski each scored braces for the Temple offense, while Cassy Skelton made three saves in goal to preserve a shuout for the Owls.
