Four American Athletic Conference men's basketball teams were in action on Tuesday (Dec. 3), and SMU improved to 8-0 on the season with a win over Northwestern State.
Cincinnati 82, Vermont 73 -

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Keith Williams scored a career-high 23 points and Tre Scott had a double-double as Cincinnati topped Vermont 82-73 on Tuesday night.
Scott had 13 points and 12 rebounds and Jaevin Cumberland added 21 points for the Bearcats. Chris Vogt added 11 points and three blocks for Cincinnati (6-2). Cincinnati was 12 of 19 from 3-point range with Williams going 4 for 4 and Cumberland 5 for 8.
Vermont, which trailed 40-27 at the half, put up a season-high 46 second-half points, a season high for the team. However, the Bearcats were 13 of 16 from the foul line in the second half and 22 of 26 for the game.
Stef Smith had 18 points for the Catamounts (6-4), 15 in the second half. Anthony Lamb added 16 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and three blocks. Everett Duncan had 13 points and eight rebounds.
Vermont was 15 of 28 behind the arc but just 9 of 33 inside. Smith had four 3s. The Catamounts trailed by 23 after an 11-0 Williams and Cumberland run and got back within nine with less than three minutes to play early. However, the Bearcats hit enough free throws and back-to-back 3s by Smith only cut the deficit to seven with 30 seconds left.
Coppin State 85, East Carolina 75 -

GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- Koby Thomas scored 19 points to lead five Coppin State players in double figures as the Eagles topped East Carolina 85-75 on Tuesday night.
Ibn Williams scored a season-high 13 points in eight minutes coming off the bench for Coppin State (4-6). Kamar McKnight added 16 points, Andrew Robinson chipped in 14 and Aaron Robinson had 11.
Jayden Gardner scored 22 points for the Pirates (2-7), whose losing streak stretched to four games. Tyrie Jackson added 12 points and Brandon Suggs.
Tremont Robinson-White, playing just his second game after injury sidelined him for seven games, scored 10 points with four rebounds and four assists.
SMU 77, Northwestern State 51 -

DALLAS (AP) -- Isiaha Mike had 16 points to lead five SMU players in double figures as the Mustangs won their eighth consecutive game to open the season, romping past Northwestern State 77-51 on Tuesday night.
Mike also had six rebounds, three steals and a block. CJ White added 15 points for the Mustangs. Everett Ray chipped in 14 and Emmanuel Bandoumel and Feron Hunt added 10 apiece. Kendric Davis chipped in nine points while dishing out eight assists.
SMU sprinted to a 35-17 lead at the break and won the second half 42-34.
Chudier Bile had nine points for the Demons (2-5).
Memphis 71, Bradley 56 -

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Alex Lomax scored 17 points, Boogie Ellis added 12 and No. 15 Memphis survived a poor shooting performance to beat Bradley 71-56 Tuesday night.
Memphis made 36.1% of its shots from the field, but the Braves (5-3) were considerably worse. They hit 26.8%, including just 2 of 23 tries outside the arc.
Tyler Harris and DJ Jeffries added 10 points each for Memphis (7-1). Precious Achiuwa had an off-night scoring with only six points, but he grabbed 14 rebounds and blocked five shots. Lomax also had three steals.
Elijah Childs led the Braves with 21 points and 14 rebounds, and Danya Kingsby added 12 points.
Bradley's top offensive players had tough nights. Leading scorer Darrell Brown entered averaging 14 points per game but was limited to four. He missed all eight of his 3-point tries and was 1 of 16 from the field. Nate Kennell was held to two points a week after hitting 6 3-pointers in a win over Kansas State.
Memphis pulled away at the start of the second half, opening with seven straight points.
Bradley shot 25% in the first half, including missing all seven of its 3-point attempts. Memphis was only slightly better at 35.5%, converting a pair of 3-pointers.
Memphis' 29-19 lead at the break was its largest of the first half.
