PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s soccer honors for the second week of the 2019 season.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jewel Boland · Jr. · F · SMU
Boland helped SMU to a 9-0 win over Texas Southern on Thursday night with two goals on five total shots (three on goal) and added an assist. On Sunday, she led the Mustang offense with five of the team’s 16 shots with one of them being on goal.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Stasia Mallin · Sr. · D · Memphis
Mallin collected her first goal of the season, a direct score off a corner kick, at No. 18 Kansas to open the week. She then anchored a backline that pitched its second clean sheet of the season with a 1-0 win at Omaha on Sunday.
GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Elizabeth Moberg · Jr. · GK · Memphis
Moberg tallied her first full shutout of the season in a 1-0 win at Omaha on Sunday, taking care of the four shots she faced as Memphis won its third game of the season.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Aubrey Lechlider · Fr. · F · Tulsa
Lechlider tallied two goals last week, scoring in both matches. Against Little Rock, she added the final goal of the night and her goal early in the second half against Oklahoma gave Tulsa the lead at the time. She finished with three shot attempts, all of which were on goal, for her two scores.
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Jackie Harnett · Fr. · D · UConn
Harnett scored UConn’s lone goal in the tie against Central Connecticut State on Thursday, tying the game in the 82
nd minute. On Sunday, she assisted on the game-winner against Colgate.
Serena Dolan · Sr. · M · Memphis
Dolan tallied the only goal in Memphis’ 1-0 shutout at Omaha on Sunday, scoring the eventual game-winner in the 32
nd minute.
Mary Meehan · Sr. · D · SMU
Meehan tallied 150 minutes in SMU’s two games last week and was crucial in helping hold TCU to only three shots on goal on Sunday.
Andrea Hauksdottir · Sr. · MF · USF
Hauksdottir played 35 minutes against Saint Leo, the scoring a goal and tallying an assist. She tallied five shots and three of those found their way on goal.
Morgan Morocco · Sr. · F · Temple
Morocco was in the middle of the Temple offense in both games last week, scoring the first goal of the season for the Owls in the win over UMBC before tallying an assist on Sunday.
