The American Today: Road Teams Victorious in Sunday Action

SMU snapped a three-game skid, Cincinnati defeated Temple on the road and the 2015 Women’s Final Four logo was unveiled at USF during weekend hoops action around the conference.

Keena Mays had a career-high tying 34 points for SMU in the Mustangs’ 67-50 win over Houston on Saturday. Marche’ Amerson and Te’onna Campbell had 15 and 11 points for the Cougars, respectively.

Cincinnati shot 72 percent (18-for-25) from the field in the second half in Saturday’s 55-53 win at Temple. Alyesha Lovett hit a  pair of free-throws with 25 seconds left to seal the win for the Bearcats. Rateska Brown had a team-high 13 points for the Owls off the bench. Lovett’s career-high 20 points paced the Bearcats.

Rutgers collected its 20th victory of the season and had its highest scoring output of the year in a 90-50 win over UCF at the RAC. Kahleah Copper and Tyler Scaife scored 22 points each for RU. The Knights were led by Zykira Lewis’ 16 points.

Emmonnie Henderson scored a career-high 19 points for No. 4/3 Louisville in the Cards’ 82-66 win at Memphis on Sunday. Louisville shot 54 percent from the field in the victory. Mooriah Rowser led three Tigers in double-figure scoring with 20 points. Ariel Hearn finished with a double-double of 15 points and 10 assists.

No. 1/1 UConn had four players in double figures in a 63-38 win at USF on Sunday. The Huskies were held to a season-low 63 points in the victory, but scored 20 points off turnovers compared to eight by the Bulls. Bria Hartley scored a game-high 18 points for UConn. Inga Orekhova had 17 points for USF.   

The conference schedule is idle until Wednesday.
