On Thursday night, Houston opened action in the Hilton Houston Plaza Classic, dropping a 2-1 decision to New Mexico.

Courtney Klinger hit a home run, the Cougars’ only run of the night. It was the junior’s third home run this season.

Summer Gronholski pitched a full game, giving up zero runs through the first five innings. 

This evening the Cougars will play a double header as they continue play in the Hilton Houston Plaza Classic. At 5 p.m. they will take Texas A&M Corpus-Christi followed by Illinois at 7:30 p.m. Both times are ET.
