IRVING, Texas – South Florida will represent the American Conference in the 2026 NCAA Softball Championship after hearing its name called during the NCAA Selection Show on Sunday.
South Florida will face No. 7 national seed Washington in the NCAA Fayetteville Regional on Friday, May 15, at 8 p.m. ET on ESPNU. Each of the 16 NCAA Regional sites features four teams competing in a double-elimination format, with the winners advancing to the NCAA Super Regionals. The final eight teams will earn berths to the 2026 Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City.
Teams from the American have reached the NCAA Regional round a combined 27 times since the conference was reconstituted prior to the 2014 season. American teams are 37-55 all-time in NCAA tournament games during that span.
South Florida (42-15) earned an NCAA Regional berth for the second consecutive season after securing the American’s automatic bid with its second straight conference tournament championship. The Bulls will make their 18th NCAA Championship appearance.
