On Saturday, No. 21/22 Tulsa and RV/RV UCF continued to win, as they both remain unbeaten, to start the season.
In Arizona, the Golden Hurricane have one four straight games, including two wins on Sat. (Feb. 7) against Santa Clara and Grand Canyon, 6-4 and 5-4, respectively. Erica Sampson hit a three-run home run to give Tulsa the lead in the first inning against Santa Clara. The team added one more run in the first and two in the seventh.
It was a close game two against Grand Canyon but two runs in the top of the sixth helped Tulsa retake the lead. Kate Meyers and Kaitlin Allen scored the runs that gave the Golden Hurricane the victory.
UCF started the day with a 3-0 shutout against Boston College. Willow Kalinen and Samantha McCloskey put up back-to-back singles in the second inning.
In the second game for the Knights, the team controlled the win over George Mason, 10-1, in six innings. Linnea Goodman and McCloskey both scored two runs each against the Patriots.
After falling 4-3 to No. 8/8 Michigan, NR/RV USF rallied back to defeat Jacksonville State, 9-1, in six innings. Kristen Wyckoff had 2 runs. Veronica Gajownik, made the most of her two at-bats, bringing in a run each time.
During action at the LSU Tiger Classic, Memphis beat Tennessee State, 5-1, and fell to RV/RV North Carolina State, 9-3. Houston also went 1-1 on day two of the Sand Dollar Classic. The Cougars opened up with a 4-3 loss to Jackson State but closed the day with a six innings win, against Florida Gulf Coast, 11-1.
East Carolina split the day, opening up with a loss to RV/RV South Carolina, 11-2. The Pirates bounced back in the second game, picking up a 4-3 win over Longwood in eight innings,.
On Sunday, our teams will continue competition as the day gets started with Memphis taking on Tennessee State at 10:30 a.m. Houston will play Liberty at 11 a.m. followed by No. 23/23 South Alabama at 2 p.m. East Carolina will play in a double-header, featuring Oakland at 11:30 followed by South Carolina at 4:30 p.m. At Noon, Tulsa will challenge Northern Colorado. At 4 p.m., USF will take on No. 1/1 Florida. All times are ET.
