USF's Eriksen Gets Career Win No. 800 on Tuesday

The USF softball team extended its win streak on Tuesday night with a doubleheader sweep of Yale and Maine at the USF Softball Stadium. Head coach Ken Eriksen earned his 800th career victory in the Bulls first win of the day over the Bulldogs. USF’s all-time wins leader among all sports became the 22nd active Division I softball coach to reach the milestone.  USF extended its win streak to 10 games after getting a career-high six strikeouts from right-hander Susan Wysocki (4-0) in the 6-1 win over Yale. The redshirt freshman from Cherry Hill, N.J., scattered four hits and gave up an unearned run in five innings. Monica Santos and Astin Donovan each collected two hits while Kristen Wyckoff scored two runs from the leadoff spot. In the nightcap, USF scored five runs in the first inning on their way to a 8-2 win over Maine and their 11th straight victory. Back-to-back home runs by Lee Ann Spivey and Ta’coia Williams made it 4-0 early in the game and USF never looked back.

Left fielder Erica Sampson scored three runs, while right fielder Brittany Walker and second baseman Kate Myers each drove in two runs to lead Tulsa to a 5-4 win at Arkansas Tuesday evening at Bogle Park. Catcher Catherine Horner also scored two runs for the Golden Hurricane, which improved to 12-7 on the season. Sampson went 3-for-4 at the plate, while Walker was 2-for-3. Senior Bailey Erwin (6-2) tossed 4.0 innings to earn the victory for Tulsa, and junior Caitlin Sill pitched the final frame to pick up her third save of the season. Allison Stewart (4-4) allowed two runs on four hits in 1.2 innings to take the loss for the Razorbacks (12-11).

No. 20/20 UCF homered in each of the games at the UCF Softball Complex on Tuesday. The Knights collected a pair of wins over Mercer and South Dakota, topping the Bears 7-2 and the Coyotes 5-1. Freshman Courtney Rotton put the Knights on top early in the first game vs. Mercer, hitting her second home run of the season. Junior Shelby Turnier struck out at least one batter in the first five innings of the game, finishing with seven strikeouts in six innings of work. Senior Mackenzie Audas tossed her ninth complete game of the season in the win over South Dakota, tying her career high with 14 strikeouts. She pitched her sixth game of the season with 10 or more strikeouts.

East Carolina tallied  nine hits but left nine runners on base, as the Pirates dropped a 5-0 contest to Hawaii Tuesday night at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. East Carolina put nine runners on base with eight singles and a double, but were unable to capitalize as they stranded nine base runners over the course of seven innings. Freshman right fielder Mary-Sloan Bradford finished the game going 3-for-4 with three singles, while sophomore designated player Kacie Oshiro went 3-for-3 as she improved her batting average to a team-leading .395.
