Husky senior Lauren Duggan allowed just one hit in her five-inning effort against Rhode Island, as UConn picked up their second straight win on Thursday. Duggan, now 7-9, recorded her team-leading seventh win as UConn improved to 12-22 with their 8-0 six-inning victory at the URI Softball Stadium. The Huskies took a 2-0 lead in the second inning when sophomore Dominique Pinto hit her team-leading fourth homerun of the season, driving in Alyson Ambler who opened the inning with a double. Ambler, a junior, went 3-3 at the plate and threw a scoreless sixth inning on the mound. Senior captain Emily O’Donnell had a successful day at the plate, finishing 3-4 with a two-run double in the third and her second-straight RBI double in the sixth. Five Huskies notched multiple-hit games.
UConn next hosts Memphis in a three-game series beginning Saturday, April 11.
