Mississippi State 11, Memphis 3 (5)
(Don’t list the record straight out if it’s bad. Maybe add it in parenthesis after the team name to put less emphasis on it). Memphis dropped an 11-3 (5) decision to Mississippi State Wednesday evening at MSU Softball Field. The Tigers trailed 3-0 in the top of the fourth before a two-run homer by freshman Katie Brignac brought Memphis within a run of the Bulldogs. Mississippi State responded by adding five runs in the bottom of the inning to extend the lead to 8-2. In the fifth inning Memphis scored again on an RBI single by Lindsay Crowdus, but the Bulldogs tallied three more runs in the bottom of the inning and ended the game early with a walk-off double. The Tigers totaled six hits as shortstop Kyler Trosclair went 3-3 at the plate and scored a run. Memphis (14-30) is back in action on Saturday in Tampa, Fla. as they face USF in a three-game conference series. Saturday’s doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. ET.
