American Athletic Conference Track Student-Athletes Receive USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference had a total of 55 student-athletes – 32 women and 23 men - earn 2014-15 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors as announced by the association on Friday.
 
Out of a total of 838 women from 207 institutions, Memphis led The American with seven honorees. UCF and Cincinnati followed with six recipients each. Tulane (4), East Carolina (3), USF (2), SMU (2) and Tulsa (2) rounded out the conference. The Tigers and the Golden Hurricane each had six student-athletes honored from a total of 529 men from 165 institutions to lead The American. UConn produced five award recipients while the Bearcats and Cougars had three apiece.
 
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:

1) For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org
2) For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
