SMU Defeats Cincinnati on Sunday

The SMU men's soccer team beat Cincinnati, 1-0, Sunday night at Westcott Field. The Mustangs improved to 6-8-0 overall and 2-3 in American Athletic Conference play with the win, while the Bearcats fell to 8-5-1 overall and 3-2-0 in the American with the loss.

Junior defender Jordan Cano’s first-half goal lead the Mustangs to the victory, clinching SMU's second consecutive conference win. After a corner kick from Bryce Clark in the 35th minute, Cano headed the ball past Cincinnati goalkeeper Pedro Diaz to net the game-winning goal. It was the second goal of the season for Cano, who also scored in the 4-0 victory over Memphis last Saturday.

SMU's defense preserved the second consecutive shutout of conference play. Senior Michael King, freshman Eddie Munjoma, Taylor Curtis and Cano anchored the backline that only allowed three shots on goal for the entire match.
