SMU Athletics Men's Soccer 10.24.16 SMU Defeats Cincinnati on Sunday Follow @American_MSoc The SMU men's soccer team beat Cincinnati, 1-0, Sunday night at Westcott Field. The Mustangs improved to 6-8-0 overall and 2-3 in American Athletic Conference play with the win, while the Bearcats fell to 8-5-1 overall and 3-2-0 in the American with the loss. Junior defender Jordan Cano’s first-half goal lead the Mustangs to the victory, clinching SMU's second consecutive conference win. After a corner kick from Bryce Clark in the 35th minute, Cano headed the ball past Cincinnati goalkeeper Pedro Diaz to net the game-winning goal. It was the second goal of the season for Cano, who also scored in the 4-0 victory over Memphis last Saturday. SMU's defense preserved the second consecutive shutout of conference play.
