ESTERO, Fla. (AP) -- Damyean Dotson scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Danrad Knowles added 16 points and five boards as Houston ran away from South Dakota in the second half for an 85-58 win in the Gulf Coast Showcase.

The Cougars advanced to Wednesday's championship game against Vermont, an 87-73 winner over Hofstra on Tuesday night. South Dakota will take on Hofstra for the third-place game Tuesday.

Houston (3-0) led 13-2 eight minutes into the game and never trailed. The Coyotes closed to 35-30 on a jumper by Tyler Flack, but the Cougars scored twice before the half and led by nine at the break.

Dotson was 4-for-8 shooting from the 3, and Wes Vanbeck, who had 10 points off Houston's bench, was 2 for 3 from distance.

Matt Mooney and Flack each scored 13 points for South Dakota (5-1). The Coyotes shot 9.5 percent from 3-point range, making just 2 of 21 attempts.

East Carolina 82, Florida A&M 62
GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- Kentrell Barkley scored 11 of his 21 points in the first half to help East Carolina pull away early and beat Florida A&M 82-62 in Monday night's second round game of the Savannah Invitational.

With the win, coach Jeff Lebo surpasses Tom Quinn's 102 victories, making him East Carolina's winningest coach since the program's start in the Division I era in 1965.

Caleb White scored 20 (14 in the first half) and made 6 of 10 3-pointers and distributed six assists, and the Pirates (4-1) rolled to a 46-21 halftime lead after Jeremy Sheppard (six assists) hit a 3 and a layup amid a game-breaking 9-1 run.

B.J. Tyson scored 17 and East Carolina shot 29 of 59 from the field (49 percent) and made 15 of 25 free throws (60 percent).

Desmond Williams scored 19 and Trey Warren added 11 for FAMU (2-3), which shot 37 percent from the floor and missed all eight 3-pointers.

Memphis 104, McNeese State 65
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Dedric Lawson had 20 points and 10 rebounds as Memphis drubbed McNeese State 104-65 on Tuesday night.

Craig Randall nailed 5 of 8 from long range to total 18 points and K.J. Lawson was 6 of 9 from the floor for 13 points, with 10 rebounds and seven assists for Memphis (4-0). Markel Crawford and Keon Clergeot scored 11 points apiece.

The Tigers shared the wealth as 12 players scored and they dished out 35 assists, the second highest in school history.

Memphis took control underneath by winning the rebound battle 47-31, and scoring 62 points in the paint while holding McNeese State to just 26. The Tigers also picked up 20 points off turnovers and had 34 fast-break points.

The Tigers led throughout and sprinted to a 43-24 halftime advantage. They dominated in the second half too, taking that one 61-41.

Jarren Greenwood led the Cowboys (1-3) with 15 points.

SMU 84, UC Santa Barbara 57
DALLAS (AP) -- Semi Ojeleye scored 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field to help lead SMU to an 84-57 win over UC Santa Barbara on Tuesday night.

Sterling Brown scored 14 points and added seven rebounds, while Ben Moore and Shake Milton each had 12 for the Mustangs (4-1), which improved to 3-0 at home this season.

SMU shot 55.8 percent from the field while limiting the Gauchos (0-4) to just 32.8 percent. The Mustangs also won the rebound battle 43-26 and dished out 21 assists to just 12 for UC Santa Barbara.

SMU built a 41-26 lead at the half and extended it to 48-28 on a Brown jam with 16:52 left in the game. A Ben Emelogu 3-pointer five minutes later made it 63-34 and UC Santa Barbara never mounted a serious comeback.

Gabe Vincent led the Gauchos with 18 points. Eric Childress added 11.

Tulsa 75, Oregon State 64
TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Junior Etou scored 17 points and made two clutch baskets down the stretch that helped Tulsa repel a strong Oregon State for a 75-64 win on Tuesday night.

Junior college transfer Jaleel Wheeler added 16 points and Sterling Taplin and Pat Birt nine each in matchup of two of last year's NCAA Tournament participants which were hit hard by graduation. Tulsa (2-2) shot 45 percent and outrebounded OSU 38-23, led by Eton's seven boards.

Tres Tinkle scored 19 points for Oregon State (2-3), JaQuori McLaughlin had 12 points and five rebounds and Drew Eubanks added 10 points and five boards.

Trailing 37-22 after a tentative first half, Oregon State asserted itself early in the second, opening with a 17-3 run to pull within 40-39 on a 3-pointer by Kendal Manuel.

Tulsa regained some control with a 7-0 run by Taplin, who made a 3-pointer, a free throw and then a steal and layup to push the lead back to 53-44. OSU kept chipping away and was within four when Etou answered with a 3-pointer from the left corner, then a layup on a nifty assist from Taplin, giving Tulsa a 67-58 advantage with 2:50 left.

Tulsa opened the big halftime lead despite using 12 players and changing lineups constantly. Seven players made at least one 3-pointer in the half, eight scored and Tulsa limited the Beavers to 39 percent shooting (9-23).

LAHAINA, Hawaii (AP) -- Jalen Adams had 25 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds, helping Connecticut survive for a 93-82 victory over Division II Chaminade Tuesday in the Maui Invitational.

UConn (2-3) had a hard time shaking the deep-shooting Silverswords (2-2), who have had a penchant for knocking off big-name opponents.

The Huskies shot 61 percent, yet weren't able to pull away from Chaminade until the closing minutes.

Rodney Purvis had 23 points and Vance Jackson added 16 and for UConn, which was without forward Terry Larrier after he injured his left knee against Oklahoma State in the tournament opener.

Rohndell Goodwin had 20 points, Sam Daly and Kiran Shastri had 19 each for Chaminade, which made 14 of 32 from 3-point range.

The Silverswords hit 6 of 10 shots to lead 18-13 and, unlike the night before against No. 4 North Carolina, pushed back when a bigger team tried to lean on them.

Chaminade trailed by seven, but tied the game at 39-all late in the first half on a layup by Austin Pope and Goodwin's short jumper after a turnover on the inbound play.

The Silverswords hit 9 of 17 from 3-point range in the first half and were tied with the Huskies at 45-all.

Adams carried UConn in the opening 20 minutes with 15 points, eight assists and six rebounds.

The Silverswords continued to go right at the Huskies in the second half, dropping in long-range 3-pointers and driving fearlessly to the rim to stay within 61-60 midway through.

UConn finally started to gain some separation as the Silverswords started missing shots they had been making all day.

The Huskies stretched their lead to 80-71 on Purvis' corner 3-pointer with about 5 minutes left.

Florida Atlantic 78, USF 62
BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) -- Jailyn Ingram had 16 points and eight rebounds and Florida Atlantic overcame a slow start on Tuesday night to beat South Florida 78-62.

Ronald Delph added 14 points and 11 rebounds and Gerdarius Troutman scored 15 with four 3-pointers. FAU (2-3) never trailed after taking a 26-25 lead during an 11-0, first-half run. USF (2-2) tied it twice early in the second half, but the Owls led by double digits for the final 13:09.

The Owls went scoreless for over six minutes and trailed by 10 in the early part of the first half. Troutman broke the spell with a 3-pointer that cut the deficit to 19-12 and FAU steadily took control from there.

Florida Atlantic made 11 for 21 from 3-point range and outrebounded the Bulls 48-31.

Tulio Da Silva had 14 points and 10 rebounds for South Florida. Geno Thorpe and Luis Santos added 11 points each.
