UCF’s Gregory, USF’s Henshaw Earn Weekly Women's Basketball Honors



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball honors for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 19.

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Aliyah Gregory • Jr. • G • UCF
Gregory averaged 30.5 points per game for UCF last week, shooting 59-percent (26-of-44) from the field in a 2-0 week for the Knights. The junior scored a game-high 34 points in a win over No. 22 USF, helping the Knights to their first-ever win over a nationally ranked opponent. Gregory finished the week with 27 points in a win over East Carolina on Saturday and now leads the league in scoring in conference play (21.6 ppg).

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Tamara Henshaw • Fr. • F • USF
Henshaw averaged 13.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting 73-percent (11-of-15) in a pair of games for USF. The rookie recorded her fourth career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds in a close loss to RV/25 Temple on Sunday. Earlier in the week, Henshaw scored eight of her 14 points in the final quarter against UCF in the War on I4.

Averaged 20.0 points, 7.0 assists and 3.5 steals per game last week in wins over SMU and at No. 22 USF
 
Leslie Vorpahl • Sr. • G • Tulane
Scored 16 points on 4-of-7 shooting from 3-point range vs. top-ranked UConn, also had five rebounds and six assists vs. the Huskies
