Highlights
- Cincinnati picked up four event wins at the Charlie Thomas Invitational at Texas A&M. In the men’s events, Alex Bloom win the heptathlon with a personal best 5,604 points and Adrian Valles set a Cincinnati and meet record with a pole vault clearance of 5.57m. On the women’s side, Loretta Blaut won the high jump clearing 1.72m and Annette Echikunwoke won the weight throw with a distance of 22.10m.
- UConn’s men were at two events over the weekend, the Crimson Elite at Harvard and the Scarlet and White at Boston University. The Huskies won the Crimson Elite by two points over the host Harvard. Senior Craig Hunter won the pole vault with a clearance of 5.05m and freshman Ronel Forde his first collegiate event taking home the triple jump with a distance of 15.16m. Hunter also won the pole vault at the Scarlet and White, clearing 4.90 while Ben De Venezia won the 1000m with a time of 2:25.93.
- The UConn women’s team was at the Armory Track Invitational. The Huskies posted two third-place finishes with Divine Oladipe throwing a 15.28m shot put and Kelli Thomas had a distance of 18.58m in the weight throw.
- East Carolina was in Blacksburg, Va., for the Doc Hale Elite and had a very strong showing. Stefano Migliorati set a school record with a 1:49.81 in the 800m, Hakee Horton won both the 200m (21.52) and the long jump (7.37m) and the Pirates won the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:21.41. On the women’s side, Naomi Whitaker won the high jump with a mark of 1.64m.
- Houston competed at the Charlie Thomas Invitational and came away with two wins as G.J. Reyna won the 3,000m with a time of 8:26.64 and Amere Lattin won the 60m hurdles in a time of 7.82 seconds.
- Memphis competed in the Don DeNoon Invite in Carbondale, Ill., and earned six first-place finishes. Christopher Walker won the 400m (49.95), LaForrest Church won the 800m (1:54.95), Olushola Olojo won the triple jump (15.23m) and Simon Hosten won the heptathlon with 5470 points. On the women’s side, Celine Rone (2:16.52) won the 800m and Chardae Greenlee won the triple jump with a distance of 12.75m.
- USF was back on the track last weekend at the Villanova Invitational. Bernicia Holifield won the weight throw for the Bulls with a distance of 18.69m and Joe Fogarasi won the pole vault with a clearance of 5.05m.
- Crystal Jones of Temple was at the Princeton Multi Event Meet last Wednesday (Feb. 2) and took home third place in the women’s pentathlon with 3,413 points.
- Tulane joined UConn at the Amory Collegiate Invite and senior Mary Carson Pitts earned the best finish for the Green Wave with a third-place finish in the pole vault with a height of 4.00m.
