Tulsa’s Bruner Tabbed American Women’s Golf Player of the Week



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Tulsa freshman Greta Bruner was named the American Women's Golf Player of the Week and earned the league’s final weekly honor of the season, the conference announced on Wednesday.
 
Bruner took home medalist honors and led Tulsa to the Dale McNamara Invitational title Tuesday afternoon at the Tulsa Country Club. She carded a 71-69-71 (211) over three days and won the event by six strokes over runner-up Camille Orito of New Mexico State. She was first in a field of 54 and defeated players from No. 27 BYU, No. 57 New Mexico State and No. 70 Fresno State. Bruner’s win marked the first overall victory for a Tulsa golfer since Kristina Merkle won the 2013 Notre Dame Clover Cup.

Cincinnati
  •  Senior Valentina Herrera (12th overall) was the Bearcats’ top finisher at the Dale McNamara Invitational Apr. 10-11 at the Tulsa Country Club… Cincinnati finished eighth as a team…Junior Christina Gloor recorded a Top 30 finish for the Bearcats.
  • Cincinnati next competes at the American Athletic Conference Championship Apr. 16-18 in Palm Coast, Florida.

East Carolina

Junior Lisa Pettersson (222) registered five birdies in her final round at the Silverado Showdown to lead the Pirates at the event…The junior ranked among tournament leaders in par-5 scoring…East Carolina finished 15th overall as a team.
The Pirates will be back in action on Sunday, Apr. 16 when they participate in the American Athletic Conference Championship in Palm Coast, Florida.
 

USF
  • USF captured the first title of the Tiffany Prats era with a 10-shot victory at the Hoya Invitational on Tuesday…Senior Nicole Autrique (76-73-73: 222) led three Bulls in the Top 10 with a third-place finish…It was the third Top 10 finish of the season for Autrique.
  • USF travels to Palm Coast, Florida, Apr. 16-18 for the American Athletic Conference Championship.
 

SMU
  • SMU finished seventh at the PING/ASU Invitational Apr. 7-9 in Tempe, Arizona…Lindsey McCurdy tied for eighth (71-71-72: 214) and notched her seventh Top 10 finish of the season…McCurdy has 91 birdies this year, the most in a single season at SMU.
  • SMU next competes at the American Athletic Conference Championship Apr. 16-18 at the Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Florida.
 

Tulsa
  • Tulsa won the Dale McNamara Invitational on Tuesday, marking its first team tournament title since the 2013 UAB Fall Beach Blast…American Player of the Week and individual medalist Greta Bruner led four Hurricane players in the Top 20.
  • Tulsa begins postseason play at the American Athletic Conference Championship on Apr. 16-18.
