Highlights

UCF 2, USF 1
The UCF Knights won the battle Saturday evening with USF in the War On I-4 grabbing a 2-1 victory at the UCF Soccer Complex.

Cal Jennings netted his 18th goal of the season, while Walker Dawkins converted the game-winning goal giving the Knights the win. Andres Hernandez Betancur picked up his first collegiate point with an assist.

It was USF’s first conference loss this season with two weeks left to play before the conference tournament.

UCF improves to 10-2-2 overall and 3-1-1 in American Athletic Conference play, while the Bulls drop to 5-6-2 on the season and 2-1-2.

Yannik Oettl improves to 10-2-2 on the season between the posts.

UConn 2, Temple 1
Continuing its four-game home stand, the No. 13 UConn men's soccer team used two second half goals to propel itself past Temple, 2-1, Saturday night at a sold out Morrone Stadium.

Temple took a 1-0 lead at 38:08 following an Elias Villegas goal. The Owls would take that lead into halftime, despite UConn holding a 6-2 shot advantage.

The Huskies were able to find the equalizer in the 62nd minute. As Dayonn Harris began his attack inside the box, he was tripped up by a Temple player, resulting in a penalty kick. After taking a breath and gathering himself, Abdou Mbacke Thiam buried the PK to knot the score at 1-1.

UConn took the lead, and the game, for good in the 88th minute. Aviza lobbed the ball out to a streaking Mbacke Thiam, who launched a high-arching shot that sailed past the outstretched hand of the 6'9 Temple goalie and nestled into the back of the net, giving the Huskies a 2-1 victory over the Owls.

SMU 3, Cincinnati 1
SMU men's soccer became the 25th program in NCAA history to reach 600 programs wins with its 3-1 win over American Athletic Conference opponent Cincinnati Saturday night at Westcott Field in Dallas.

Junior Akean Shackleford scored twice for his fourth and fifth goals of the season to give SMU the win, both on assists from junior Eddie Munjoma. The Jamaican forward finished a cross from Munjoma with a header in the 22nd minute of play. He sealed the victory in the second half with his second goal off a free kick from the McKinney, Texas native. He now ties senior Emil Cuello for most goals on the team with five.

In the 16th minute of the first half, senior midfielder Caleb Smith posted his first goal of the season on a penalty kick to put the Mustangs on the board first.

Memphis 1, Tulsa 0
Memphis took one on the road as the Tigers defeat Tulsa in overtime by a 1-0 score.

Gurman Sangha punched home his first goal of the season off of Chris Mikus' saved shot just a minute and change into overtime. The victory is Memphis' first win in five overtime matches this season.

As regulation ended, the teams had countered each other's haymakers, and the score stood at 0-0. While Memphis had the advantage in shot count (13-7), Tulsa had the upper hand in corner kicks (5-2).

Overtime ended almost as quickly as it started, and just 67 seconds in, Mikus took a shot from inside the box, which was saved by Tulsa's keeper. Fortunately for the Tigers, the save sent the ball into the waiting foot of Gurman Sangha, who capitalized on the loose ball and finished the golden goal.

Defeating Tulsa is not only Memphis' second conference win of the year, but it also marks the first time the Tigers have beaten the Golden Hurricane since 2011.
