UConn 124, Wichita State 43
In the first meeting between the two programs, Napheesa Collier scored 26 points and Katie Lou Samuelson added 22 points and nine assists to lead UConn (24-0, 12-0 The American) to a 124-43 win against Wichita State (10-16, 5-7 The American) Saturday. The 124 points was two shy of the program record, which was set against Providence in 1998. The 81-point margin of victory is second only to a 97-point rout of Quinnipiac that same season. The Huskies shot 71 percent from the floor, hitting 47 of their 66 shots.
Rangie Bassard had 20 points to lead Wichita State in the contest.
Cincinnati 83, Tulane 52
Cincinnati (15-10, 7-5 The American) Bearcats earned an 83-52 victory over the visiting Tulane (12-13, 4-8The American) Green Wave on Saturday afternoon at Saint Ursula Academy Gymnasium & Convocation Center. Four players finished in double-figures for the first time since Jan. 13 against Temple inclucing, Iimar'i Thomas (18), Nikira Goings (15), Shanice Johnson (12) and Sam Rogers (12). The Bearcats converted 25 points from 21 forced turnovers in through four quarters of action.
Meredith Schulte and Kolby Morgan led Tulane offensively with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
UCF 64, Temple 57
UCF (17-8, 9-3 The American) withstood a late push from Temple to earn a 64-57 win over Temple (10-14, 2-9 The American) on Saturday afternoon in McGonigle Hall. Kakiya Saunders and Korneila Wright combined for 36 points after each scored a game-high 18 points.
The Knights earned their first win over the Owls in Philadelphia. Entering the matchup, UCF was 0-3 when facing Temple in Philadelphia.
Tanya Atkinson finished with a team-best 17 points, while Emani Mayo added 13 for the Owls.
SMU 53, Memphis 35
SMU (10-15, 4-8 TheAmerican) captured the road conference win against Memphis (7-17, 2-8) with a 53-35 win Saturday night. A trio of players finished in double-digit figures. Ariana Whitfield and Kiara Perry led the squad with 11 points apeice, while McKenzie Adams provided an additional 10 points for the Mustangs. SMU has now won three of the last four contests and two in-a-row.
Brea Elmore had a game-best tying 11 points and was the only Tiger to produce double figure scoring in the contest.
Tulsa 83, Houston 77
Four Tulsa (9-16, 3-9 The American) players scored in double figures to lead the Golden Hurricane to an 83-77 upset victory over Houston (19-7, 8-4) on Saturday afternoon at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. Shug Dickson had a game-high 29-points and a team-best seven rebounds, followed by Erika Wakefield with 20 points. Alexis Gaulden and
Crystal Polk also scored in double figures with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Houston was led by Angela Harris with 26 points, while Jasmyne Harris added 15, and Serithia Hawkins produved a double-double with 14 points and a game-best 13 rebounds.
