Women's Golf All-Conference Team Announced

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Twelve student-athletes were named to the American Athletic Conference Women’s Golf All-Conference Team, the conference announced on Wednesday. Houston, the conference champions, placed four players on the team, while ECU, Memphis and SMU each were represented by two players.

The all-conference team is comprised of the top 10 Golfstat nationally-ranked players in the conference in addition to student-athletes who placed in the top seven at the conference championship and were not otherwise in the top 10.

Houston’s Leonie Harm led a quartet of Cougars on the all-conference team; joining Harm were Megan Thothong, Allie Andersen and Courtney Tibiletti. Harm’s 72.90 average score leads The American heading into postseason play.

SMU’s Brigitte Dunne is now a three-time all-conference honoree, while Harm is on the team for the second consecutive year. Her teammate Thothong joins the team for the second time in her career after being a 2016 selection.

The ECU duo of Carley Cox and Dorthea Forbrigd are both on the team for the first time; Forbrigd was the runner-up at the conference championship after falling in a playoff on Tuesday. Forbrigd owns the second-best scoring average in the conference at 72.97.

Taryn Torgerson, the conference medalist, joined the team following her victory in the championship playoff. The senior fired a closing-round 64 to reach the playoff before birdieing the first hole to claim the win. Including Tuesday’s title, Torgerson owns three tournament wins on the year.

Emily Goldenstein and Sydney Colwill of Memphis helped the Tigers match the program’s best finish at The American Championship, each finishing inside the top 10 as Memphis finished fourth overall.

SMU’s Faith Summers joined Dunne as Mustangs on the all-conference team; the sophomore owns three top 20 finishes on the year.

UCF’s Kaeli Jones earned a spot on the squad after recording four top 20 finishes, including a fifth-place result at the conference championship.

Individual accolades will be announced on Friday, April 20.
