Highlights
Northeastern 2, UConn 0
New UConn coach Margaret Rodriguez will have to wait to pick up her first career head coaching victory as the Huskies dropped a 2-0 decision to Northeastern Friday in Brookline, Massachusetts.

Goalkeeper Randi Palacios registered seven saves in her first career start, but UConn could not overcome a 17-9 discrepancy in shots and a 5-1 margin in corner kicks.

UConn (0-1-0) will play its home opener Monday against Syracuse.

ECU 1, Old Dominion 1 (2OT)
Midfielder Tori Riggs headed home the equalizer on a cross from Daria Draovitch in the 48th minute as ECU and Old Dominion battled to a 1-1 draw in the season-opener for both teams in Norfolk, Virginia.

The Monarchs carried the lead for most of the first half thanks to a goal in the sixth minute, and the Pirates were forced to play most of the match with 10 players after a red card in the 15th minute. But Riggs answered quickly in the second half and neither team was able to score in the final 42 minutes of regulation or in 20 minutes of overtime.

The Pirates (0-0-1) will host Radford Sunday at Johnson Stadium.

Houston Baptist 3, Houston 1
Houston Baptist raced to a 3-0 lead and held Houston off the scoreboard until the 74th minute in a 3-1 victory against the Cougars Friday.

Houston's Angela Forthuber beat the Houston Baptist keeper from 18 yards out to put the Cougars on the board, but it wasn't enough to overcome a three-goal cushion. The Huskies' Avery Cortez scored two goals.

Houston's Rachel Estopare made five saves. The Cougars (0-1-0) visit Lamar Sunday in search of their first win of the season.

Saint Joseph's 2, Temple 1
Saint Joseph's scored the game-winning goal on a deflected corner kick with 10 seconds left to stun Temple 2-1 in the Owls' season-opener Friday in Philadelphia.

The Owls' Jules Blank scored in the 51st minute to tie the match at 1-1, and the sides appeared headed for overtime in an evenly played second half. But the Hawks gained a corner in the final 30 seconds and Morgan Bower was in the right place at the right time to give Saint Joseph's the victory.

Temple goalkeeper Morgan Basileo was credited with 17 saves, tying the American Athletic Conference single-game record. Houston's Cami Koski set the mark against San Diego State in 2013, and Temple's Jordan Nash matched it against Memphis in 2016.

Temple (0-1-0) will look for its first win next Friday against Sacred Heart at the Temple Sports Complex.
