PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced its Golfers of the Month for October 2019.
 
Co-Men’s Golfer of the Month
Isaiah Jackson * Jr. * Memphis
Jackson finished October with three top-15 finishes, including one runner-up result, representing Memphis for the month. Jackson fashioned five rounds in the 60s and posted an impressive 68.89 stroke average over nine rounds for the month. He opened October in a tie for seventh place at the David Toms Intercollegiate on Oct. 5-6 in Shreveport, Louisiana, carding under-par rounds of 70-69-67 to finish at 206 (-10). Jackson next traveled to the Quail Valley Collegiate on Oct. 20-21 in Vero Beach, Florida, and posted a share of 14th place with rounds of 69-67-72=208 (-8). Jackson held the lead for a portion of the final round at the Intercollegiate at Innisbrook on Oct. 28-29 in Palm Harbor, Florida, ultimately placing second with a final tournament score of 7-under-par 206 (70-65-71).
 
Co-Men’s Golfer of the Month
Luke Gifford * So. * USF
Gifford closed the month with top-10 results in each of his three starts for the month, which included one solo tournament win for the USF sophomore. Gifford carded five rounds in the 60s and recorded a 69.67 stroke average over nine rounds in October. He kicked off the month at the Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills Golf Course in Hartford, Wisconsin, on Oct. 6-8 as co-medalist, logging scores of 72-68-69=209 (-7). Gifford added a share of fifth place in his next start at the Quail Valley Collegiate on Oct. 20-21 in Vero Beach, Florida, recording a 67-72-66 showing to finish at 11-under-par 205. Gifford closed the month at the Intercollegiate at Innisbrook in Palm Harbor, Florida on Oct. 28-29, tying for seventh place in the field at even par with a total of 213 (76-67-70).
 
Women’s Golfer of the Month
Karen Fredgaard * Fr. * Houston
Fredgaard turned in a pair of top-10 results for the month of October, including one runner-up finish, to lead Houston in the month. She turned in six straight rounds at par or better, which featured four rounds in the 60s, and compiled a 69.33 stroke average. Fredgaard kicked off the month at the Jim West Challenge in San Marcos, Texas, on Oct. 20-21, recording a seventh-place showing with rounds of 71-68-72=211 (-5). She then posted the best 54-hole scoring total in program history the following week at the White Sand Invitational in Nassau, Bahamas, on Oct. 28-30, placing second in the 82-player field with a final tournament score of 11-under-par 205 (68-69-68).
