UCF Completes Comeback Over Florida State In NCAA 1st Round

PROVIDENCE, R.I.
– Facing a two sets to one deficit against Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) foe Florida State on Thursday night, UCF dug deep to complete a five-set comeback win over the Seminoles in the opening round of the NCAA Championship in Gainesville, Florida. The Knights ultimately won the contest 25-19, 20-25, 20-25, 25-18, 15-8.
 
UCF (25-7) advances to play host No. 10 Florida on Friday night at 7 p.m. (ET). The Gators swept Alabama State in three sets on Thursday night.
 
Facing elimination in the fourth set, UCF led Florida State (19-10) throughout the frame on the way to a 25-18 triumph to force the deciding fifth set. The last stanza ended with the Knights scoring eight of the final nine points in the match to complete the comeback.
 
American Athletic Conference unanimous first-team all-conference selection McKenna Melville shined for UCF with 20 kills and 27 digs, while fellow first-teamer Kristina Fisher contributed 19 kills and 19 digs. Makenzie Kuchmaner matched Melville with 27 digs for the Knights, and Amber Olson (29 assists, 19 digs) and Erin Olson (23 assists, 15 digs) both added double-doubles for UCF.
