USF came back from a two-run deficit when it surged ahead with six runs in the sixth inning for the win against Virginia Tech before Nicole Doyle capped off the evening with a one-hit performance in the circle against Georgia State.

AnaMarie Bruni and Lindsey Devitt each finished with two hits in the early game, while the Bulls saw seven different players tally an RBI. Georgina Corrick earned her fourth straight win with a five inning performance, striking out three. Bethaney Keen and Megan Pierro each tallied two hits in the nightcap to pace the offense to go along with Doyle’s performance in the circle.

Houston 16, Incarnate Word 0 (5 innings); Houston 8, Northern Illinois 0 (5 innings)

Houston out-hit its opponents 21-3 on Friday on the way to a 16-0 victory over Incarnate Word and an 8-0 win over Northern Illinois on the first day of the Houston Challenge.

In the opener, the Cougars plated 10 runs in the bottom of the first, keyed by back-to-back homers from Lindsey Stewart and Abby Odneal. Stewart added a triple and finished with six RBI, while Odneal drove in three runs of her own. Rachel Hertenberger allowed one hit and struck out four to pick up the five inning win. Against Northern Illinois, Stewart stayed hot, adding three more hits and two RBI to her final statline for the day. Arielle James, Savannah Heebner and Maya Thomas all collected two hits and drove in a run, while Heebner struck out six in the circle and allowed two hits in five innings for the win.

Tulsa 4, Ole Miss 1; Texas 9, Tulsa 1 (6 innings)

Tulsa extended its winning streak to eight games with a 4-1 victory over Ole Miss before a 9-1 setback against No. 11 Texas on Friday.

Chenise Delce allowed one run in 4.2 innings in the circle and had two hits at the plate, including a go-ahead two-RBI single in the fourth to help lift Tulsa past Ole Miss. Julia Hollingsworth and Mikayla Whitten each had two hits and an RBI in the win as well.  In the nightcap, Morgan Neal went 2-for-3 and scored the only run for Tulsa, while Samantha Pochop took the loss in the circle after allowing four earned runs in four innings of work.

Cal State Northridge 2, Memphis 0; LSU 4, Memphis 0

Memphis suffered a pair of setbacks Friday at the LSU Tournament hosted by No. 7 LSU. The Tigers first fell to California State University Northridge in the first game of the day by a score of 2-0 before falling to the host squad by a 4-0 margin.

The Memphis pitching was a combined effort in game one against CSUN, as Karli Perque and Bayleigh Wisher evenly split innings. For the game, the Memphis pitching corps allowed just three hits and struck out seven. Offensively, however, the Tigers were held hitless and were unable to advance the two runners who reached by virtue of a walk. Gracie Morton (double) and Regan Hadley each tallied hits in the loss to LSU, while Mariah Nichols took the loss after allowing eight hits and striking out four.
