UCF wrapped up the USF Clearwater Tournament with a 6-0 win over St. John’s Sunday afternoon. Alea White threw a one-hit shutout striking out eight batters and walking just one. With the win, White improves to 11-5 on the season. The Knights tallied seven hits and just three strikeouts as Tamesha Glover and Cassady Brewer led the way for the Black and Gold with two hits each. Takiya London, Glover, and Savannah Julylia were credited with RBI for UCF.
Notre Dame 5, ECU 0
Notre Dame starter Alexis Holloway limited ECU to just one hit Sunday as the Fighting Irish defeated the Pirates 5-0 at the FAU Softball Stadium. Rachel McCollum broke up Holloway's perfect game bid with a single in the top of the fifth inning representing the Pirates' lone hit. Whitney Sanford turned in a complete-game effort in the loss, surrendering five runs on 11 hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
Houston 6, Nebraska-Omaha 0
Houston concluded the Highlander Classic on Sunday with a 6-0 shutout win over Omaha. In the circle, Trystan Melancon tossed her third consecutive shutout and extended her scoreless inning streak to 17 innings. At the plate, Arielle James launched her second home run of the season. Caela Kincade drove in a season-high two RBI with her triple in the fourth inning and Lindsey Stewart extended her reached base streak to 16 games with her single in the third.
Tulsa 3, Drake 2
Julia Hollingsworth drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh with a single to left field to lift Tulsa to a 3-2 win over visiting Drake on Sunday afternoon at Collins Family Softball Complex. Morgan Neal drove in the other two runs for the Golden Hurricane, while Josie Muffley extended her hitting streak to 10 games. In the circle, Kassidy Scott picked up the win and improved to 3-1 on the season as she allowed just one earned run and tallied a season-high seven strikeouts.
Wichita State 6, Nebraska 2; Wichita State 7, Nebraska 5
Behind a no-hitter and a grand slam from Asea Webber, Wichita State claimed its first home sweep of the season after two wins over Nebraska on Sunday at Wilkins Stadium. The Shockers defeated the Huskers 6-2 in game one and 7-5 in the finale.
Caitlin Bingham and Erin McDonald didn't allow a hit to Nebraska to lead the Shockers defensively in game one, coming up with the first no-hitter since Katie Malone on April 16, 2014 in a 12-0 victory over Missouri State. The no-hitter also marked the first time since May 9, 2003 (Lindsay Craig and Lindsey Lang vs. Illinois State in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament) where two Shocker pitchers combined to no-hit the opponent.
Memphis 3, Indiana State 2
A pair of home runs by Ashley Threatt and Ryleigh Aungst propelled Memphis to a 3-2 victory over Indiana State Sunday afternoon. The Tigers are now winners of six-straight and improve to 11-9 on the year. Karli Perque earned the win after 4.2 innings of work, while Mariah Nichols earned her third save of the season to close out the contest for Memphis.
