UMass Lowell 8, UConn 7 (9 innings)
Visiting UMass Lowell spoiled UConn's first home game of the season on Wednesday, plating a run in the top of the ninth inning to defeat the Huskies 8-7. UConn plated five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a three-run lead, only to see the visitors tie the game with three runs in the top of the seventh to send the game to extra innings. Briana Marcelino had a pair of hits, including a home run, while driving in four RBI for the Huskies, while Reese Guevarra and Kiwi McDaniel also finished with two hits in the loss. Ashley Esty extended her hitting streak to 10 games.
North Carolina 5, ECU 0
North Carolina broke open a scoreless game in the fifth inning and went on to defeat East Carolina 5-0 Wednesday evening at the ECU Softball Stadium. Erin Poepping was saddled with the loss after surrendering four runs on three hits with five walks. Tyler King, Rachel McCollum and Tate McClellan notched the Pirates' three hits. The Tar Heels only mustered five hits, but stole six bases and took advantage of seven walks issued by the East Carolina pitching staff.
Memphis 8, Murray State 0 (5 innings)
Memphis extended its winning streak to three games Wednesday with an 8-0 victory over Murray State on the road. Wednesday's win marks the second win this season over the Racers and third-consecutive victory by run-rule. Baylee Smith and Gracie Morton had two hits each for their 11th and fifth multi-hit games, respectively, to each extend their hitting streaks to a team-high five games. Ashley Threatt extended her on-base streak to a team-high and season-high nine games. Ryleigh Aungst joined Smith and Morton with two RBI of her own. This was her third multi-RBI game of the season. Karli Perque hurled her first complete game shutout of the season, striking out three while allowing just two walks.
Oklahoma 10, Tulsa 1 (5 innings)
A five-run second inning was enough for Oklahoma to defeat Tulsa on Wednesday night, as the Golden Hurricane fell 10-1 in five innings. Tulsa was held to five hits, by five different players, in the loss. Josie Muffley drove in Tulsa's lone run with her RBI single in the fifth inning. Samantha Pochop took the loss, allowing seven runs (three earned) in two innings.
Houston 3, McNeese 2 (9 innings)
A two-out RBI single from Lindsey Stewart in the bottom of the ninth lifted Houston to a 3-2 win over McNeese on Wednesday night. The victory sealed the comeback win for the Cougars, who trailed the Cowgirls in the bottom of the seventh. Houston tied the game in the seventh thanks to a pinch-hit solo home run from Tierrah Williams. Savannah Heebner tossed all nine innings in the circle, falling one frame short of tying her career-high. She finished the contest allowing just three hits and striking out five batters, needing only 104 pitches to earn her eighth victory of the season.
Oklahoma State 9, Wichita State 6
After leading by three runs in the following the first three innings, Wichita State couldn't hang on to its lead to No. 21 Oklahoma State. The Cowgirls scored six unanswered runs to come away with a 9-6 victory over the Shockers at Wilkins Stadium on Wednesday night. The Shockers had three players collect two hits, with Ryleigh Buck going 2-for-3 at the plate, the fourth time in the last five games she's tallied two or more hits. Buck extended her hitting streak to seven games while Laurie Derrico had two hits of her own to notch her 40th multi-hit game of her career.
