ECU 1, Tulsa 0 (8 innings)
ECU defeated Tulsa for the first time since 2014 Sunday, downing the Golden Hurricane 1-0 in eight innings at the ECU Softball Stadium. Tate McClellan, the eventual heroine, went 2-for-4 and recorded the game's only RBI in the eighth with a single through the right side. Erin Poepping provided a huge lift in the circle, tossing her first career extra-inning complete-game shutout. She struck out four batters and walked just one in going the eight-inning distance.
Julia Hollingsworth, Josie Muffley and Haley Meinen each went 2-for-4 to lead the Golden Hurricane, who left 10 runners on base. Samantha Pochop got the start and scattered three hits over five innings, while Kassidy Scott took the loss after she gave up a run on four hits in 2.1 frames.
USF 3, UCF 1
USF completed its third straight sweep and broke the tie for the lead in The American with a 10-2 record, taking down UCF in three straight games in Orlando. Scoreless through four innings, the Bulls bats exploded for three runs in the fifth, highlighted by back-to-back homers by Lindsey Devitt and AnaMarie Bruni. Georgina Corrick tossed six scoreless frames for the Bulls in the series finale and struck out seven on the way to the win.
Alea White took the loss giving up six hits, three runs, and walking two. Cassady Brewer led the way for the Knights at the plate going 2-for-3 with a walk, while Denali Schappacher, Tamesha Glover, Aubrey Johnson, and Kendyl Lange each recorded a hit.
Houston 2, UConn 1
Houston completed its first series sweep of the season on Sunday afternoon with a 2-1 victory over UConn. Sunday's win against the Huskies extends Houston's conference winning streak to a season-high four games. Earning her fifth victory of the season, Rachel Hertenberger tossed her first career seven-inning complete-game, striking out five batters in the process. At the plate, back-to-back RBI from Brooke Vannoy and Lindsey Stewart in the bottom of the fifth scored Houston's only two runs of the game.
Ashley Esty finished with two hits for UConn, including an RBI single that gave the Huskies the lead in the fourth inning. Kiwi McDaniel's double in the fourth was the only extra-base hit of the afternoon.
Wichita State 15, Memphis 3 (5 innings)
Visiting Wichita State scored six runs in the top of the first inning, along with multiple runs in the third and fourth frames, as the Shockers defeated Memphis 15-3 on Sunday afternoon. Kaylee Huecker connected on a grand slam in the first inning, while Neleigh Herring added a solo homer in the fifth. Madison Perrigan tallied three RBI, all coming on her double in the fourth inning. Erin McDonald earned the win, allowing three hits and three runs in three innings.
Memphis finished with three hits including Baylee Smith's two-run homer in the third. Gracie Morton and Ashley Threatt also had hits for the Tigers. Starter Mariah Nichols took the loss, allowing five runs in the first inning.
