Cincinnati, SMU and Tulsa all picked up league wins in American Athletic Conference men's basketball action Wednesday night (Jan. 22).
Cincinnati 89, Temple 82 -

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Cousins Jarron and Jaevin Cumberland combined for 37 points, leading five into double-figure scoring as Cincinnati defeated Temple, 89-82, Wednesday night.
Jarron Cumberland scored 22, making 13-of-14 at the free-throw line, Jaevin Cumberland, a grad transfer from Oakland, added 15 points on four 3-pointers for the Bearcats (12-7, 5-2 American). Chris Vogt added 18 points on perfect 5-for-5 shooting from the floor, as well as 8-for-9 at the line, while Tre Scott double-doubled with 16 points and 11 rebounds as well as five assists. Keith Williams scored 10.
Quinton Rose led Temple (10-8, 2-5) with 26 points and Nate Pierre-Louis added 22, both season-highs.
A Jake Forrester basket brought Temple into a 71-71 tie with four minutes left, and a J.P. Moorman free throw gave the Owls a 72-71 lead. Cincinnati's Scott dunked with 2:42 remaining as the Bearcats closed on an 18-10 run in which they were 4-for-4 shooting and 10-for-10 at the line. Jarron Cumberland scored 14 of the last 18.
SMU 84, ECU 64 -

DALLAS (AP) -- Tyson Jolly scored 17 points and the first of his five 3-pointers kicked off a 10-0 run for the Mustangs as SMU defeated Eastern Carolina, 84-64, Wednesday night.
Kendric Davis added 15 points with nine assists and Ethan Chargois posted 12 points as SMU (14-4, 4-2 American Athletic Conference), earned its fifth straight home victory. Isiaha Mike added eight points, five rebounds and six assists.
SMU posted a season-high 15 3-pointers - second most in school history. The Mustangs are 11-1 at Moody Coliseum this season.
Jayden Gardner and Brandon Suggs each scored 18 points for East Carolina (8-111, 2-4), which lost a third straight. Tristen Newton added 15 points with six assists. Gardner led with nine rebounds.
The Mustangs were 55% shooting for the game (29-for-53), owned the boards 37-26 and avenged a Jan. 11 loss to East Carolina, 71-68.
Tulsa 80, No. 20 Memphis 40 -

TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Jeriah Horne scored 21 points to help lead Tulsa to a surprisingly dominant 80-40 win over No. 20 Memphis on Wednesday night.
The 40-point margin of victory is the largest-ever for Tulsa against a ranked opponent.
Martins Igbanu had 11 points and Brandon Rachal, the reigning American Athletic Conference's Player of the Week, also had 11 for Tulsa (13-6, 5-1 American). The Golden Hurricane has now won four straight games following a stretch where they went 1-3.
Precious Achiuwa scored 10 points for Memphis (14-4, 3-2), which shot a season-low 28.8 % from the floor.
Memphis entered the day leading the entire nation in field goal percentage defense, holding opponents to an average of 35% shooting, but the Golden Hurricane shot 50 percent (27 of 54).
That marked a season-high for both Tulsa and for Memphis to have allowed.
Tulsa took a 23-point lead into halftime and just kept building on it well into the second half.
