IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of its weekly men’s and women’s tennis honors for the week-ending February 15.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE WOMEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Valeriya Zeleva • Jr. • UCF • Moscow, Russia
Zeleva went 2-0 in both singles and doubles to lead UCF to a 4-1 win at No. 21 Florida and a 4-0 victory against Miami (Fla.) last week. She won both singles matches in straight sets at the No. 2 position, including a 6-3, 7-6 (3) victory against the No. 87-ranked player nationally from Miami. Zeleva, who is ranked No. 67 in singles and No. 60 in doubles in the Oracle/ITA preseason rankings, takes a 4-2 singles record and a 7-0 doubles mark into this week.
