UCF Defeats East Carolina in Thursday Action

UCF defeated East Carolina in American Athletic Conference men's basketball action on Thursday, March 5. With the win UCF earned the No. 6 seed for the Air Force Reserve American Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Championship, while three other seeds were clinched with the result, including No. 7 Tulsa, No. 8 USF and No. 9 Temple.

UCF 64, East Carolina 60 - Box Score

GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Darius Perry had 14 points and 11 rebounds to lift UCF to a 64-60 win over East Carolina on Thursday night.

Isaiah Adams had 15 points for UCF (10-11, 8-10 American Athletic Conference), which earned its fourth consecutive win. Darin Green Jr. added 14 points. Avery Diggs had 10 points.

Tristen Newton had 18 points for the Pirates (8-9, 2-9). Jayden Gardner added 18 points and seven rebounds. Tremont Robinson-White had six rebounds.

The Knights improve to 2-0 against the Pirates this season. UCF defeated East Carolina 71-64 on Jan. 27.

Tulsa 107, Northeastern State 74 - Box Score

TULSA, Okla. –– Six Tulsa players scored in double-figures as the Golden Hurricane closed out the regular season with a 107-74 victory over Northeastern State Thursday afternoon at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
 
Brandon Rachal led the way with 18 points, followed by Austin Richie with 15, Keyshawn Embery-Simpson with 14, Darien Jackson and Manny Ugboh with 11 apiece and Rey Idowu with 10 points. NSU's Troy Locke led all scorers with 24 points on 8-of-10 from the field and 5-of-5 from 3-point range.
 
In addition to a season-high 107 points, the Hurricane also connected on season-bests of 65.6 percent from the field and 48.3 percent from behind the arc. Tulsa also had season-highs of 26 assists and 14 three-pointers made, while outscoring NSU 52-14 in the paint and had a 50-9 edge in bench scoring.

Vanderbilt 78, Cincinnati 64 - Box Score

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati men's basketball team made a late run but came up just short in a 78-64 nonconference loss on Thursday inside Fifth Third Arena.
 
Vanderbilt (8-14) had answers for everything Cincinnati (9-10) threw at the Commodores, sinking eight three pointers, getting to the free-throw line 23 times, 10 more than UC's 13. VU also outrebounded UC 33-24.
 
Trailing by 12 at the half, 47-35, UC chipped away at the lead despite playing with a short bench.
 
An 8-0 Bearcats run over 2:21 pulled them within seven, 71-64, with 2:50 remaining in the game. UC missed its final six shots, did not score in the final 3:57 while VU closed on a 7-0 run to seal a game which was scheduled less than four days ago on Monday.
 
Keith Williams led the way with 20 points while Mika Adams-Woods had 16 with two assists. Jeremiah Davenport scored 15 to go with six rebounds and five assists.
