SMU Men's Golf Ties For 17th At NCAA Championship

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The SMU men's golf team capped off the 2021 season with a tie for 17th place at the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club.

The Mustangs closed play after Sunday evening's third round of stroke play just a single stroke out of a playoff to compete in Monday's final round, turning in a tournament score of 873 (287-294-292). SMU finished among the national top-20 teams for the fourth time since the 2014 season. 

Ollie Osborne paced all SMU players in the tournament in a tie for 56th place with rounds of 70-76-72=218. Justin Thompson shared 67th place with a score of 219 (77-71-71). American Athletic Conference Player of the Year Noah Goodwin matched Thompson in 67th place with rounds of 71-74-74 to reach 219. Graduating senior Mac Meissner tied for 83rd place in his final collegiate start at 220 (72-73-75), and Nathan Petronzio was in 136th place at 230 (74-78-78).
