06.02.21

IRVING, Texas - SMU men's golf junior Noah Goodwin captured 2021 PING First-Team All-America recognition on Tuesday, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Goodwin joined Bryson DeChambeau (2015) as the second Mustang player to ever claim first-team All-America accolades.

Goodwin finished his 2020-21 campaign with an even 70.0 scoring average to establish an SMU program record for a single season, notching five top-five finishes over eight total starts. Goodwin earned American Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors on the strength of a solo second place showing at the SMU Trinity Forest Invitational on March 7-9 (70-67-71-69=207, -6) and a share of second at the American Men's Golf Championship on April 23-25 (70-70-68=208, -8).

A finalist for the Jack Nicklaus Award, presented to the top player in each division in college golf, and the Haskins Award Watch List, given to the top player in Division I men's golf, Goodwin was the solo medalist at the NCAA Stillwater Regional from May 17-19 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Goodwin fired rounds of 66-67-68 to win by six strokes at 201 (-15), becoming the third SMU player to claim solo or co-medalist honors at an NCAA Regional since 1989.
