Field Set for 2022 American Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Championship

IRVING, Texas – The field is set for the 2022 American Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Championship. After finishing conference play with seven consecutive wins, including a 2-0 win over South Florida on Thursday, UCF is the No. 1 seed and won The American’s regular-season crown for the first time since 2017.
 
The tournament features a single-elimination format with the first round on Sunday, Oct. 30. UCF (9-2-4, 7-0-1 American) will host the semifinals on Nov. 3 and the final on Nov. 6. The first round and semifinals will be streamed live on ESPN+, while the final will air live on ESPNEWS and be simulcast on ESPN+. The tournament champion will earn the league’s automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship.
 
In the first-round matchups. No. 3 seed Cincinnati (7-2-7, 3-1-4) will host No. 6 seed SMU (8-3-5, 3-3-2) and fourth-seeded Memphis (7-5-4, 3-2-3) will host No. 5 seed East Carolina (8-7-3, 3-3-2). South Florida (8-8-0, 5-3-0) is the No. 2 seed and earned a first-round bye.
 
It is UCF’s fourth regular-season crown (2013, 2014, 2017, 2022). Memphis is the defending tournament champion after winning a penalty shootout with South Florida in 2021’s final.
