Tulsa Stays Undefeated With Friday Night Win

Tulsa stayed undefeated on the season with a 4-1 win over Kansas City, while SMU added a 2-0 clean sheet over Central Arkansas.

No. 16/13 Tulsa 4, Kansas City 1 – Box Score
TULSA, Okla. - Malik Henry-Scott scored two goals, while Thomas Wells and Takayoshi Wyatt each added a score to give Tulsa a 4-1 win over Kansas City on Friday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.  The Golden Hurricane moved to 2-0 on the season, while the Roos fell to 1-2 overall.
 
Malik Henry-Scott one-timed the ball into the back of the of the net off a rebound attempt taken by Sergio Baena to put TU up 1-0 at the 21:06 mark.  Thomas Wells then gave TU a two-goal cushion headed the ball in from four yards out, and then Takayoshi Wyatt scored from six yards out off a pass from Wells.  The Golden Hurricane took that 3-0 lead into the break.
 
In the second half, Henry-Scott took a pass that was threaded up the middle by Henry Sach and put the ball into the lower right corner.  Kansas City got one back in the 60th minute, but both teams went scoreless in the final 30 minutes for the 4-1 score.

DALLAS, Texas – Knut Ahlander's multigoal performance lifted SMU men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Central Arkansas Friday night at Washburne Soccer and Track Stadium.
 
In five seasons for the Mustangs, Ahlander has logged over 85,000 minutes scoring one goal on nine separate occasions throughout his career. Friday marks Ahlander's first multigoal performance at SMU.
 
Ahlander got the Mustangs (2-1-0) on the board in the 13th minute, firing a shot into the lower-left corner past Central Arkansas goalkeeper Zach Schawl. Alexander Petraeus and Henry Howell set up Ahlander for the score.
 
 
In the 59th minute, Ahlander netted his second goal of the night, converting on a penalty kick.
 
Cole Johnson played the full game in goal for SMU, earning five saves on the way to recording the team's second shutout of the season.
 
The Mustangs were aggressive throughout the entire match. SMU tallied 12 total shots, including eight shots on goal. In addition, SMU held an 11-7 edge in corner kicks.
 
No. 19/9Georgetown 5, Temple 2 – Box Score
WASHINGTON, D.C.- The Temple men's soccer team (1-1-1, 0-0-0 AAC) fell to No. 19/9 Georgetown 5-2 on Friday afternoon. Georgetown jumped up out to an early 3-0 lead, but Temple battled back with two goals in the second half. The Hoyas stretched the lead out late in the match as Temple was forced to commit numbers forward to attempt to even the score.
Georgetown scored three goals in the first half to take a 3-0 lead into the half.  It was clear early in the second that the Owls were mounting a comeback. Mike Eijgendaal fired a shot on frame quickly and goalkeeper Eoin Gawronski made two saves in quick succession.
 
Gawronski made another save followed by a yellow card in the box for the Hoyas resulting in a penalty kick opportunity.
 
Eijgendaal cashed in on the PK to get the Owls on the board in the 58th minute.
 
Only two minutes later, Temple struck again. Eijgendaal drove the end line and found Yann Kouemi open in the front of the goal. Kouemi got a fantastic touch on the ball to redirect it to the opposite corner of the goal and pull Temple within one score.
 
 Temple nearly scored again twice, with Lleyton Imparato, Kouemi, and Sawyer Koza all getting strong chances that just missed their mark. 
 
The Hoyas scored twice more late in the match as Temple attempted to push the ball forward and score again. Georgetown took the final by a score of 5-2.
 
Marquette 1, South Florida 0 – Box Score
MILWAUKEE, Wisc.The South Florida men’s soccer team fell to Marquette on Friday night 1-0. With the loss, the Bulls fall to 0-2-1 on the season.
 
The two sides battle throughout the first half with neither team able to get an advantage. It was until the 64th minute that Marquette was able to get a penalty kick opportunity. Just two minutes after subbing in, Zyan Andrade put the penalty kick in the back of the net for Marquette.
 
The Bulls had 15 shots and six shots on goal against Marquette’s 10 shots and three shots on goal.
 
UCF at FGCU – No Contest
FT. MYERS, Fla. – The UCF men's soccer team's match against FGCU on Friday was ruled a no contest due to lightning in the area.
 
After an hour-and-fifty-minute delay prior to the match starting, the two sides played to a score of 1-1, with Lucca Dourado scoring with an assist from Gino Vivi in the 10th minute and the Eagles retaliating with a score of their own in the 13th. The match was called with 6:24 remaining in the first half.
