Memphis, Tenn. – The Memphis men’s soccer team overcame a three goal deficit against Central Arkansas to win a high-scoring affair 6-4 on Tuesday night at the Billy J Murphy Track & Soccer Complex.
Central Arkansas scored three goals within the first 20 minutes of the match (10’, 13’, 19’) to put the Tigers in a hole.
Marcus Larikka scored for the Tigers in the 42
nd minute, but Central Arkansas answered just before half to keep it a three-goal lead heading into the break.
Coming out of the half, the Tigers would strike quickly, scoring two goals in the ten minutes to make it a 4-3 game. Jackson Kim and Lineker Rodrigues dos Santos scored the goals in the 51
st and 55
th minutes.
With just five minutes left in the match, the Tigers went on a scoring frenzy, scoring three goals in four minutes. Jovan Prado tied the match in the 85
th minute before Alberto Cruz gave Memphis the first lead of the match in the 88
th minute. Rodrigues dos Santos added a second goal on the night, scoring in the 89
th minute to lift Memphis past Central Arkansas 6-4.
Tulsa 3, Missouri State 0 – Box Score
Springfield, Mo. – The Tulsa men’s soccer team picked up a midweek road win over Missouri State on Tuesday, winning 3-0 at the Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium.
The Hurricane took the lead in the 11
th minute of the contest off the leg of Malik Henry-Scott.
It wasn’t until the final 20 minutes of the match that Tulsa would strike again. Alex Meinhard was the first to score, giving the Hurricane an insurance goal in the 79
th minute. Meinhard would then assist on a goal from Takayoshi Wyatt in the 89
th minute as the Hurricane would win 3-0.
North Florida 1, Florida Atlantic 0 – Box Score
Boca Raton, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic men’s soccer team fell to North Florida on Tuesday night after a late goal gave the Osprey’s the lead. Florida Atlantic falls to 1-4-2 on the season.
It was an even match until the 73
rd minute when Joaquin Acuna found the back of the net off a ball from Michael Careero. It was the lone score of the night and gave the Ospreys the win.
Both teams only managed six shots on the night. North Florida had three on goal, while Florida Atlantic only had one on goal.
Mercer 3, UAB 2 – Box Score
Macon, Ga. – The UAB men’s soccer team lost to Mercer 3-2 at Betts Stadium on Tuesday night to fall to 2-5 on the season.
Mercer would score first, capitalizing in the 24
th minute to take the early lead.
UAB wouldn’t strike until after halftime, but two quick shots within two minutes put the Blazers up by one. Nathaniel St. Louis scored his third goal of the season, while Ohad Buck scored his first.
Mercer would strike back in the 71
st minute to even the match at two before scoring the game-winning-goal in the 81
st minute to seal the victory.
