Boca Raton, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic men's soccer team picked up the programs first American Athletic Conference win, defeating UAB 1-0 on Saturday night at the FAU Soccer Stadium. Florida Atlantic improves to 2-4-2 overall and 1-0-1 in American play, while UAB falls to 2-6 overall and 0-2 in American play.
The match was even until the 79
th minute when Andreas Raisanen found the back of the net to what would be the game-winning goal for the Owls. The shots on the match were nearly even as UAB had five and Florida Atlantic had six. Both sides only had two shots on goal.
South Florida 2, Temple 1 – Box Score
Tampa, Fla. – The South Florida men's soccer team won its first American Athletic Conference game of the season in a 2-1 victory over Temple on Saturday night at the Corbett Soccer Stadium. South Florida improves to 2-3-2 overall and 1-0-1 in the American, while Temple falls to 2-4-2 overall and 0-2 in the American.
Temple struck first, coming off the foot of Sean Karani in the 20
th minute to give the Owls an early 1-0 lead.
The Bulls wouldn't score until late, but two quick goals would lift South Florida to the win. Brian Schaefer scored in the 68
th minute, while Maruc Victorio scored in the 74
th minute. Both goals were assisted by Gabrielle Privitera.
South Florida had a strong attack, finishing with 19 shots overall and six on goal. Temple ended the night with six shots with three on goal.
Memphis 3, UCF 2 – Box Score
Memphis, Tenn. – The Memphis men's soccer team defeated UCF 3-2 on Saturday night to improve to 5-1-1 on the season. UCF falls to 4-2.
The Tigers jumped out to an early lead as Cesar Sancho scored in the 6
th minute for the first goal of the match.
After halftime, the Tigers struck again off the foot of Emanuel Santos in the 50
th minute. UCF would get one back in the 53
rd minute with a goal from Lucca Dourado.
A lightening delay would send both teams to their locker rooms for nearly two hours. After resuming play, UCF evened the match with a goal in the 62
nd minute from Anderson Rosa.
The Tigers would get the game-winning goal in the 70
th minute as Alberto Cruz struck a penalty kick.
Tulsa 2, Charlotte 0 - Box Score
Tulsa, Okla. - The Tulsa men's soccer team won a battle of top 25 teams on Sunday, taking down No. 10 Charlotte 2-0. Tulsa moves to 5-1-1 on the year while Charlotte drops its first match of the season and falls to 7-1.
The Hurricane jumped out to an early lead as Malik Henry-Scott scored in the 8th minute. Alex Meinhard would follow in the 31st minute to give Tulsa a 2-0 lead.
The Hurricane would turn to their defense the rest of the match, holding the top offensive team in the country to just six total shots in the match.
