The SMU Mustangs defeated Rice in the first of two matches this weekend to put the Mustangs in a two-way tie for first place in The American.  With a 3-1 win over Tulsa, Wichita State sits atop the standings with the Mustangs with just one loss in conference play.  East Carolina won their sixth straight match to improve to 9-2 in conference play and sit just one match back from SMU and the Shockers, while leading the East Division.

American volleyball action will resume on Saturday beginning at 2 p.m. ET with a pair of matches.  Florida Atlantic will look to even the series against UAB, while Temple will look to earn the series win over Charlotte.  Wichita State and Tulsa will serve as the nightcap with a 7 p.m. ET first serve on ESPN+.
