IRVING, Texas – A record-tying five American Athletic Conference teams were selected for the 2023 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship, while Tulane's Carla Bernat earned an individual at-large bid.
 
The NCAA Regionals schedule will feature six tournament sites across the country, with 12 teams and six unattached individuals participating at each site from May 8-10. The top four team finishers and best two individuals from non-advancing teams at each regional site will move on to the 2023 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship Finals on May 19-24 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
 
SMU, the 2023 American champion, earned the conference's automatic bid earlier this month at Southern Hills and was seeded 5th at the NCAA San Antonio Regional. UCF, Houston, South Florida and Tulsa joined SMU in the field as at-large selections. UCF will be the 4^th seed and South Florida will be the 10^th seed at the Palm Beach Gardens Regional, Houston will be the 7th seed at the NCAA Pullman Regional, and Tulsa will be the 6^th seed at the Westfield Regional. Tulane's Carla Bernat gathered the top at-large bid for the Athens Regional.  

SMU etched its name into conference history by capturing the 2023 American Women's Golf Championship on April 19 at Southern Hills. The Mustangs set a championship record with a final score of 25-under 839 (276-289-274). American Coach of the Year Stew Lauren Mason guided SMU to its first league championship in women's golf as an American member and the program's first NCAA Regional berth since 2017 with the victory. SMU is set for its 10th all-time NCAA Regional appearance and looks to advance to the first NCAA Championship since 1992.
 
UCF will return to the NCAA Regionals for the 17th time in program history and the ninth time in the last 12 seasons, earning the No. 4 seed at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The Knights advanced to the finals of the NCAA Championship in 2019 after placing sixth at the NCAA Cle Elum Regional in Cle Elum, Washington. UCF finished 2nd at the 2023 American Women's Golf Championship to cement an at-large bid into the NCAA Palm Beach Gardens Regional.
 
South Florida will join the Knights in Palm Beach Gardens, earning the 10^th seed in the regional. The Bulls will make their 15^th NCAA Regionals appearance and first since 2012. South Florida finished 5^th at the 2023 American Athletic Conference Championship and look to advance to their first NCAA Championship since 1991.
 
Houston will return to NCAA Regionals for the 6th time in program history and first time since 2019, earning the No. 7 seed at TPC San Antonio. Houston finished in 4^th place at the 2023 American Athletic Conference Championship and head into the NCAA Regionals ranked 37^th according to Golfstat.
 
Tulsa will make their 19^th NCAA Regionals Appearance and second in three seasons (2021). The Golden Hurricane earned the 6^th seed at the Westfield Regional and will play at The Club at Chatham Hills in Westfield, Indiana. Tulsa finished in third place at the 2023 American Athletic Conference Championship and enter the NCAA Regionals ranked 36^th by Golfstat.
 
Carla Bernat of Tulane was the lone American golfer to earn an at-large bid and will be the top individual at the Athens Regional at the University of Georgia Golf Course. Bernat, the number 15 ranked player in NCAA Division I women's golf according to Golfstat, has posted a 70.65 average score across 11 tournaments thus far this season in advance of the NCAA Regionals. Bernat was the conference player of the month for October 2022 and captured player of the week honors in The American on March 21.
