IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the 2023 American Outdoor Track & Field Most Outstanding Performance awards, as student-athletes from UCF, Cincinnati, Houston and South Florida collected honors following the American Outdoor Track & Field Championships meet.
The awards are presented to student-athletes who recorded the highest-ranking marks on the NCAA performance list during the American Outdoor Track & Field Championships this season. Houston junior Shaun Maswanganyi, Cincinnati senior Fred Moudani-Likibi, UCF junior Latasha Smith and South Florida junior Nia Robinson were each recognized for the meet's top performances.
Men's Outdoor Track Most Outstanding Performance
Shaun Maswanganyi, Jr., Houston – 100-Meter Dash
Maswanganyi dominated the sprint events at the American Outdoor Track & Field Championships, taking the gold medal in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash. Maswanganyi's 100-meter dash time of 9.96 ranks third nationally heading into the NCAA regional competition.
Men's Outdoor Field Most Outstanding Performance
Fred Moudani-Likibi, Sr., Cincinnati – Shot Put
Moudani-Likibi shined in the shot put, earning a gold medal at the American Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Moudani-Likibi's winning shot put attempt of 19.71m (64'8") set a new meet record by over two feet. His throw was also the 19
th-best mark in the NCAA heading into the NCAA regional meets.
Women's Outdoor Track Most Outstanding Performance
Latasha Smith, Jr., UCF – 200-Meter Dash
Smith scorched the track at the American Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 200-meter dash, breaking the meet record and setting the all-time American Athletic Conference record in the process. Her time of 22.09 is the second-fastest time in the NCAA as she heads into the regional meet.
Women's Outdoor Field Most Outstanding Performance
Nia Robinson, Jr., South Florida – Long Jump
Robinson had a record-breaking performance at the American Outdoor Track & Field Championships in long jump, breaking the meet record and setting the all-time American record with a leap of 6.69 (21'11.5") meters, besting the previous mark by nearly four inches. Her jump is the seventh best mark in the NCAA heading into regional competition.
