IRVING, Texas – The preliminary round of the 2023 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships is set to begin on May 24 at a pair of campus sites. The NCAA East Regional will be held at Hodges Stadium at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida. The NCAA West Regional will be contested at Hornet Stadium on the campus of Sacramento State in Sacramento, California.
The East Regional at North Florida begins on Wednesday at 10 a.m. (ET) with flights in the men’s hammer throw. The East Regional meet will feature student-athletes from UCF (14 individuals plus relays), Cincinnati (19), East Carolina (9), Memphis (14), South Florida (23 plus relays), Temple (2) and Tulane (4).
The West Regional at Sacramento State opens at 12 a.m. (ET) with the men’s hammer throw. Student-athletes from Houston (23 individuals plus relays), SMU (4), Tulsa (10) and Wichita State (11) will compete in the meet.
Qualifiers from the regional prelims will advance to the national portion of the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium at the University of Texas in Austin, Texas on June 7-10.
