IRVING, Texas – Two American Athletic Conference women’s golf athletes were named to the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) 2022-23 Division I All-American Team. Tulane’s Carla Bernat and South Florida’s Melanie Green were two of only 50 student-athletes selected for the prestigious recognition.
Bernat was named Second Team All-American making her Tulane's first All-American selection since 2013 when Maribel Lopez Porras earned the honor.
Bernat posted a 70.65 average score across 11 tournaments this far this season in advance of the NCAA Regionals. Bernat was the conference player of the month for October 2022 and captured player of the week honors in The American on March 21.
Bernat took home a pair of first-place medals in the month of October, shooting a combined 11-under par in three tournaments. At the Florida State Match-Up on March 17-19, Bernat shot a 214 (-13) and was one of just four golfers to finish under par as she bested four other Golf Stat Top 100 ranked players. She finishes the season as the highest ranked Tulane women's golfer in the history of the program.
Green was named to the Honorable Mention team, becoming the sixth USF Women's Golf team member to be named to an All-American team and the first since 1999 when Kelly Lagedrost earned All-American honors.
In 2022-23 Green led the Bulls to a record-breaking season and NCAA Regional appearance. She ranked No. 12 in the country in scoring average (71.03) and was the 39th-ranked player in the country overall according to Golfstat. Green earned her third American Athletic All-Conference honor, becoming only the fourth Bull with three all-conference honors, and led the Bulls with eight top-10 finishes and 10 top-25 finishes. Green made her second-consecutive NCAA appearance after qualifying for the NCAA Regional as an individual in 2022 and finishing tied for 27th.
